The eagerly awaited full trailer for ‘Velma’ has finally arrived, unveiling Mindy Kaling’s portrayal of the Indian-American version of the beloved character in this standalone, adult-oriented animated series. Serving as a spinoff of the iconic Scooby-Doo franchise, ‘Velma’ focuses on the titular character, a key member of Mystery Inc., a group of amateur sleuths and ghost hunters.

Known as the brain of the group, Velma is recognized for her signature large glasses, turtleneck sweater, and A-line skirt. Joining her are fellow Mystery Inc. members Scooby-Doo, the lovable Great Dane; Shaggy Rogers; Fred Jones; and Daphne Blake. Sam Richardson, Constance Wu, and Glenn Howerton lend their voices to Fred, Daphne, and Shaggy, respectively.

While it remains uncertain whether Scooby-Doo himself will make an appearance, ‘Velma’ notably reimagines the character as an American of Indian descent, reflecting the series’ commitment to diversity and representation.

The official synopsis of ‘Velma’ promises an adult animated comedy series that delves into the origin story of Velma Dinkley, shedding light on the unsung and underappreciated genius behind the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang. This humorous spin offers a glimpse into the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers.

‘Velma’ made its debut on January 12 on HBO Max in the US, captivating audiences with its fresh take on the beloved character and her captivating adventures.
