A planned summit between Iran and Gulf nations set to take place in Oman has been delayed following requests from certain regional governments. The decision to postpone the meeting was made mutually by Iran and Oman, although Iranian officials did not disclose which countries asked for the delay.
Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr Albusaidi, confirmed the rescheduling of the gathering, which was initially slated for Salalah. He emphasized that the postponement was intended to foster regional consensus and assured that Oman remains dedicated to dialogue that promotes stability and long-term cooperation among the involved parties.
The agenda for the meeting included discussions on significant regional matters, notably the regulation of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is a vital oil transit point globally, and ensuring its security is crucial for maintaining steady international energy markets.
For some time, Iran and Oman have been engaging in bilateral talks focused on managing vessel traffic through this strategic waterway. Oman, which oversees the coastline opposite the strait, has previously indicated that these discussions have the backing of other Gulf Arab states.
